Sudduth Thanksgiving Lunch November 15; Tickets on sale October 23-November 3

Sudduth Thanksgiving Lunch November 15; Tickets on sale October 23-November 3

By Nicole Thomas

It’s hard to believe we’re already into the second nine weeks of school and Thanksgiving season is here.  The Sudduth family has so much to be thankful for, and at the top of the list is our outstanding team of teachers, support staff, and parents who work together to provide incredible learning opportunities and experiences for our students.

Thanksgiving also means turkey and dressing to many of us, and Sudduth’s Thanksgiving lunch, which will be held on Wednesday, November 15, is a tradition.  Our cafeteria ladies work tirelessly preparing this delicious meal for our students and families to enjoy together.

While our cafeteria ladies enjoy serving this annual feast with all of the trimmings, it is a labor of love and it requires detailed planning.  Sudduth offers advanced sales only for guest lunches during our Thanksgiving meal with a limit of two guest lunches per child.  In order to allow our cafeteria to prepare enough food, you must purchase an advance ticket and you must present the ticket to eat lunch with your child on Wednesday, November 15.   Only ticket holders will be admitted to the cafeteria on November 15.

Tickets may be purchased at the school from October 23 through November 3 from 7:45 to 1:30.  Parents may send money with their child to purchase up to 2 guest tickets per child, or come to the cafeteria to purchase the tickets.  The cost of an adult lunch is $3.10.  Your child’s teacher will send the tickets home to you by your child.    Tickets are nonrefundable.

Due to the large numbers of guests we serve on this day, we also ask for your cooperation in the following areas to help make this meal a time for giving thanks:

  1. Plan ahead.  Parking at Sudduth is limited.  Our school resource officers will be available to assist with parking.  Please be kind and courteous to them.  Their responsibility is to make sure Sudduth’s campus is safe and secure for our children and teachers.  They are here to help us.
  2. Be flexible.  It could take up to an hour or more for you to eat with your child and his/her class.  If you do not have an adjustable schedule on this particular day and a flexible lunch hour, this might not be the best time to plan to eat with your child.
  3. Be patient.  Can you imagine inviting more than 1,200 guests to your house on Thanksgiving Day? It takes a long time to cook for this many guests and to feed them. Your child’s lunch time will be adjusted and while Sudduth’s cafeteria and administrators work very hard to create a schedule that limits delays, they are almost inevitable.
  4. Give thanks.  Be sure to tell our cafeteria ladies how much you enjoyed your meal.

Thank you for sharing your children with us and for allowing Sudduth to be a part of your family.  We look forward to seeing you on November 15.
