Mississippi Department of Education Family Guides for Student Success
From time to time, parents have questions about what their child is learning at school and how they can help them at home. The Mississippi Department of Education in collaboration with classroom teachers throughout the state has developed the Pre-K – 8 Family Guides for Student Success to support parents as they seek to help their children with homework to reinforce what is being taught at school.  These grade-level guides offered in grades pre-k through eighth grade provide parents with at home strategies and activities to assist their child with mastery of the English Language Arts (ELA) and Math Standards. To download a guide for your child, click here.

i-Ready Diagnostic and Instruction
The Starkville Oktibbeha School District has implemented a program called i-Ready Diagnostic and Instruction that focuses on reading and math.  i-Ready Diagnostic and Instruction helps teachers effectively assess their students and then provide individualized instruction based on each student’s unique needs. Students will complete an adaptive assessment that adjusts the difficulty of questions according to each student’s performance in order to determine his or her abilities. Once your child completes the test, he or she will be assigned online instruction to support his or her progress in mastering each skill. An i-Ready Parent Training Guide is available for download here.
