Starkville High School and Shackouls Honors College at Mississippi State University have partnered to offer an early honors program for the District’s highest performing high school students.

The Early Honors program, a component of the Academic Houses at Starkville High School, is designed to challenge advanced learners during their senior year of high school. The program offers two seminar courses taught by Shackouls Honors College faculty that focus on intense learning experiences and include research opportunities, critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration.

The academic seminars are limited to 15 students.  The courses will be offered Monday – Thursday from 8 until 9:15 am on the MSU campus at Shackouls Honors College.  Students who complete the Early Honors program will earn six hours of honors college credit. The cost is $740 per student.  Tuition assistance is available for students who qualify.

High school students who are interested in applying for the Early Honors program, which is only available to rising SHS seniors who meet academic requirements, should speak to their high school counselor or administrator.
