Building for Excellence: Renovating & Redesigning the Ward Building at HWS

The Starkville Oktibbeha School District has begun a capital improvements campaign, Building for Excellence, that centers on establishing dynamic physical learning environments where students want to pursue their passion, define their purpose and achieve their potential.

At Henderson Ward Stewart Elementary School, Building for Excellence, means transforming the Ward building into a space that is comfortable and inviting, a space that supports collaboration and encourages exploration, a space that develops imagination. It means creating a space where students want to spend their time growing and learning together.

Ward buidling improvements include:

  • New energy efficient roof system
  • New HVAC system with air filtration
  • New LED lights throughout the building
  • New acoustical ceilings
  • New flooring throughout
  • New energy efficient thermal windows
  • New exterior entries
  • New bathrooms with sensor valve fixuters
  • New built in technology resources

This renovated, redesigned space for excellent learning experiences is scheduled to open August 2022.
