SOSD COVID-19 CASE REPORTING

The Starkville Oktibbeha School District is committed to keeping students, families and staff informed about Covid-positive cases as we focus on staying safe together during this time.

During the 2021-22 school year, the District will report weekly to the Mississippi State Department of Health the number of Covid-positive cases, outbreaks, and quarantined teachers, staff and students. MSDH is also asking schools to report cases and those on quarantine regardless of where they may have been exposed.  This allows MSDH to have visibility of the full scope of the impact of COVID-19 on the school setting to further direct public health interventions. This school year MSDH is also asking about the school/school district’s mask policies.  Click to view MSDH School Covid-19 Report

Every member of our school district team is committed to following all of our safety protocols as outlined in our return to school guide, Staying Safe Together, to reduce spread of Covid-19 and mitigate risks associated with this virus. Click to view or download the guide.

SOSD is also counting on parents and caregivers as our primary screening procedure for Covid-19 in students. Before coming to school each morning, please check your child for the presence of Covid-19 virus symptoms (click for a list of symptoms). If you have questions about symptoms, exposure and whether to report to school, click to find our decision-making flowchart.
