EXCELLENCE IN THE ARTS
From watercolor and multi-media design to general music and choral presentations, children in the Starkville Oktibbeha School District participate in music and art education beginning in pre-kindergarten. Elementary students enjoy weekly integration of art and music exploratory classes. Beginning in 6th grade, students may choose arts elective courses designed to help them delve deeper into their interests.
Award-winning fine arts, ceramics and photography programs produce yearly state and national honors. Starkville High School earned 5 awards in the 2023 Mississippi Congressional Art Competition including Best in Show.
Choral ensembles perform locally, regionally and nationally through our award-winning choral music program.
From innovative marching choreography and showmanship to challenging classical reperoire and the up-and-coming Indoor Percussion team, students excel in our Marching and Symphonic Band program.
Starkville Oktibbeha School District offers beginner and intermediate Piano instruction for students beginning in 6th grade.
In partnership with Mississippi State University, SOSD offers beginning strings instruction beginning in 3rd grad.
Award-winning Dramatic and Musical Theatre training offers students experiences in acting, choreography, set building, stage management and script writing.
