You're Invited... Starkville High School will celebrate Graduation ceremonies for the SHS Class of 2025 on Friday, May 23 at 6:00pm at Humphrey Coliseum. We are excited to mark this milestone for our outstanding senior class with our Jacket Family. If you plan to attend SHS Graduation, please make note of several guidelines below...
- Doors will open for families and the general public at 5:00pm. Humphrey Coliseum will operate a single entrance point for families and the general public. Be prepared to wait in line for entry if arriving prior to 5:00pm. Graduating Seniors will enter through a separate door, but no families will be permitted to enter with Seniors.
- Security screening will take place upon entry and all bags are subject to search. All parents and guests will be expected to pass through metal detectors before entering the facility. CLEAR BAG POLICY will be observed.
- The Humphrey Coliseum facility utilizes an appropriate number of handicap parking spaces for venue capacity, however an event such as SHS Graduation may require a disproportionate amount of handicapped parking. To accommodate, we will operate a drop-off zone where handicapped persons may exit vehicles. Cars utilizing the handicap zone will then be required to park in open parking.
- Graduation attendees may take advantage of general open parking available on both sides of the Coliseum -- near Palmeiro Center as well as between the venue and Sanderson Center.
- Noisemakers (including air horns, cowbells, or whistles) are not permitted in the graduation venue, and their use is strictly prohibited.
- The possession of balloons, beach balls, confetti or other celebratory items are strictly prohibited at the graduation ceremony.
- We kindly ask that you refrain from yelling or screaming during the ceremony. Let’s make sure every graduate has their moment to shine and be heard.
- MSU has asked that graduation attendees be expeditious in exiting the Coliseum concourse once the event has ended so that event staff may set up for an event the following morning.
In an effort to ensure additional staff can be in place for security and logistics during Graduation, SOSCD will operate a district-wide early release 63% day on Friday, May 23.
