Sudduth Carpool Re-routed / Hwy 182/Montgomery Intersection Closure

Sudduth Carpool Reroute Map

Because of road improvements being constructed by the City of Starkville, Sudduth Elementary will begin the school year with changes to our carpool route.

As parents may be aware, the intersection of Hwy 182 and Montgomery Street is projected to be closed through August 31 which will impact some access to the Sudduth campus. Because of the closure, Sudduth will implement an alternate carpool route for traffic accessing campus from the South. Please see the map shown below or click to download a PDF with details. The PDF also includes instructions for drop-off and pick-up along Greenfield.

Sudduth Carpool re-route map

  • Traffic coming from South of the 182 corridor should use Jackson Street and turn RIGHT only on Central Avenue to access South Montgomery and enter Greenfield from the South.
  • Traffic coming from North of the school should use Garrard Road from Jackson Street or Old West Point Road to access North Montgomery and enter Greenfield from North.
  • A Starkville Police Department officer will be stationed at the intersection of Central and Montgomery to facilitate movement of traffic. In addition, a SOCSD School Resource Officer will be stationed at the intersection of Montgomery and Greenfield to facilitate movement onto campus.
  • All carpool traffic will exit LEFT onto Evergreen Street and turn RIGHT onto Santa Anita to access Jackson Street.
  • Please drive slowly and pay close attention to instructions from traffic officers.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to accommodate traffic safely during the 182/Montgomery intersection closure. With questions, please contact Haley Montgomery, SOCSD Director of Communications at 662.615.0021 or hmontgomery@starkvillesd.com.
