Starkville High School teacher Vijay Pacharne is recognized for teaching excellence with the Extra Yard for Teachers Award presented by the College Football Playoff Foundation. Pacharne was selected for the honor by former student and SHS graduate Reese Dunne, who is a current track and field student athlete at Mississippi State University.
The College Football Playoff Foundation Extra Yard For Teachers Award champions great classroom teachers and elevates the teaching profession by inspiring and empowering teachers.
As part of his recogition, Mr. Pacharne was honored with a testimonial by Reese which aired on SEC Nation, the SEC Network's traveling pregame show, during the college football regular season. The student-athlete video tributes is also be featured on SECNetwork.com.
In addition, schools being recognized as part of the program will receive a $3,500 grant from the CFP Foundation and the SEC to use towards the purchase of classroom supplies and materials through Donorschoose.org.
