SOCSD Campuses Remain Closed Wednesday & Thursday; Continue Distance Learning

Dear SOCSD Families,

The Starkville Oktibbeha School District campuses will remain closed on Wednesday and Thursday and continue distance learning.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Oktibbeha County as we continue to experience extremely cold temperatures today and tonight.

NWS is also predicting additional winter weather for Wednesday and Thursday, which is expected to bring additional winter precipitation resulting in dangerous travel conditions.

Distance learning schedules and lesson information will be provided to students and families by their teachers and/or schools.

Please refer to the link below for information about how to connect to WiFi with your school-issued device. Students who do not have access to WiFi may return completed work when we resume in-person classes to be counted present.

Our technology team will be managing our help desk during distance learning, and they may be reached at socsdedtech@starkvillesd.com.Students enrolled as virtual students for the Spring 2021 semester will continue to hold virtual classes as scheduled.

The health, wellness and safety of our staff, students and families is our primary concern. Please take necessary steps as recommended by the National Weather Service to prepare for dangerously cold temperatures. As a community partner, Oktibbeha County Emergency Managment Agency has asked that our Jacket family check on friends, neighbors and seniors to ensure they have adequate food and heat and that we keep devices charged and limit travel unless absolutely necessary.

Our school district remains on alert and we will keep our students, staff and families updated with the latest information from NWS and Oktibbeha County Emergency Management Agency. We will provide an update regarding Friday's school schedule on Thursday.

Stay safe & stay warm!
