USING PARENTSQUARE

ParentSquare

SOCSD utilizes ParentSquare as our parent and staff mass messaging system. Through this application, parents and guardians will receive district-wide as well as school- and classroom-level messages throughout the year via email, text messages and phone calls. ParentSquare also offers an online interface and a mobile app that give parents the flexibility to individualize their notification settings, send and receive messages to teachers, as well as view all communications by student in one easy searchable interface.

ParentSquare is the district's primary method of communicating with parents regarding school delays, cancellations or changes to the school day, and procedures during inclement weather and/or emergency situations.

First time? Get Verified!

The district will send you an invitation using your email address or phone number on file...

  1. Open the invitation from ParentSquare in your email or text messages.
  2. Click Activate your account or tap the link to go to the account registration page.
  3. Enter your email or phone number used during registration, then click Get Started. (Optional: You can also sign in with Google or Microsoft.)
  4. Check your contact information. If it looks correct, click Confirm. You’ll receive a code by text or email.
  5. Enter the verification code when asked.
  6. You’ll see your children’s names. Click Confirm next to each child who should be connected to your account. If a child is listed by mistake, click Not my child.
  7. If everything looks correct, click Yes, this is me. Now you’re ready to start using ParentSquare!

Seasoned parent, but need a refresher?

  • Did your information change from last year? Your contact email address and mobile number in ParentSquare are pulled from what you input into PowerSchool during school registration. If you have changed your contact information from last school year, you may be prompted to verify your account again.
  • Want to update your notification preferences? Visit the Manage Account link under your profile name, and set preferences to deliver instantly or in a daily digest. All urgent alerts from the district will be delivered instantly regardless of preferences.
  • Need to change your contact information at any point during the year? Submit a request through your account's "Edit Contact info" link, reach out to your school's MSIS clerk or contact Haley Montgomery, SOCSD Director of Communications at hmontgomery@starkvillesd.com. All contact information must be changed in PowerSchool. Changes typically requires 24 hours to update in ParentSquare.
  • Need to add a step-parent? Only two parents automatically sync from PowerSchool into ParentSquare for each child. If your family includes additional step-parents who will need to view your child's school communications, please reach out to Haley Montgomery, SOCSD Director of Communications at hmontgomery@starkvillesd.com to be added individually.
