Important Update for Meal Delivery Service: Bus Delivery Suspended March 25; Drive-up/Walk-up Service Remains Open

Dear Parents,

As the Covid-19 outbreak expands across our state and community, we have made the difficult decision to suspend meal delivery service beginning Wednesday, March 25.

We WILL offer meal delivery service on Tuesday, March 24.  Our drive-up/walk-up sites at Sudduth Elementary School and Henderson Ward Stewart Elementary School will remain open.

We continue to receive new information daily as we evaluate our response plan and adjust where necessary.  We will keep you updated about meal delivery service if/when it resumes.

The health and safety of our Jacket family continues to be our first priority.  I cannot continue to stress enough the importance of following all guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control as we try to flatten the curve in our community and slow the spread of Covid-19.  Please practice all preventative measures regularly:

  • Avoid close contact with sick people.

  • While sick, limit contact with others as much as possible.

  • Stay home if you are sick.

  • Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands; germs spread this way.

  • Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub with at least 60% alcohol.

  • Practice social distancing, which the CDC defines as remaining out of congregate settings, avoiding mass gatherings, and maintaining distance (approximately 6 feet) from others when possible.

All meals are FREE to children ages 0-18.  Children do NOT have to be students in the Starkville Oktibbeha School District to participate.  However, children must be physically present to receive a meal.  Adults who are chaperoning/transporting children to school sites may purchase a meal for $3.15 at school site.  Cash only accepted.

Each meal will include lunch and breakfast, including two milk servings.  Lunches are intended to be eaten immediately or should be stored in the refrigerator within 2 hours.  Please discard any leftovers within 3 days.  Hot foods should be kept hot (entrees >135 degrees) and cold foods (milk & cheese < 41 degrees) kept cold.

Sincerely,

Eddie Peasant
