Our student artists are buzz worthy! The Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District PTO celebrates the artistic talents of our students for their original works in drawing, painting, photography and writing with its annual Buzzy's Art Awards.
All Pre-K-12 students enrolled in the Starkville Oktibbeha School District are invited to submit work to the Virtual Buzzy's Art Contest (online only, please). The deadline for submission of artwork is January 20, 2023.
Students are invited to submit an original work of art in one of the following categories:
- 2D – Drawing (pencil, crayon, pen, color pencil), Painting (on paper, canvas, wood), Collage, Digital Drawing (not a digital photography but an original drawing made using computer technology such as Adobe Illustrator), or Mixed Media (a work made using a combination of materials).
- Sculpture / 3D – Clay (ex. figures, pots), Paper Maché, Fiber (quilts/textile), Diorama
- Photography – Digital or Print
- Creative Writing – Short Story, Poetry
HOW TO SUBMIT ENTRIES:
All submissions will be online this year. Please do not bring your artwork to school.

Students are welcome to submit artwork in multiple categories, but only ONE entry per category. Submissions will be judged via grade level for grades Pre-Kthrough7th, with Best of Show awarded in all categories for Emerson PreK, Sudduth, Henderson Ward Stewart, West Elementary, Overstreet, and the Partnership Middle School. Armstrong (grades 8-9) will be judged as a group and SHS (10-12) will be judged as a group.

Judging will take place in February and the Buzzy’s Art Awards Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, March 7th at 6 PM at the Greensboro Center. All winning artwork will be proudly presented at the ceremony. Winners will be notified prior to this event.
