THE LEARNING CENTER

 

The Learning Center houses two Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District programs, which work closely with the staff at Overstreet Elementary School, West Elementary School, Partnership Middle School, Armstrong Junior School, and Starkville High School to provide student services in the following areas: 

ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL

The Alternative School in the Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District provides an alternative setting for students in grade 5 – 12. The school hours are 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

ACCELERATORS

The Accelerators are students from Partnership Middle school in the 6th grade who are trying to accelerate their grade placement by intensive academic instruction/assistance. Students in the 6th grade will try to pass the academics necessary to pass 6th and 7th grade and enter the 8th grade the next school year. The school hours are 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Annual Millsaps Fall Festival Tuesday, October 28 5:30pm - 7:30pm SHS Campus behind Millsaps (near tennis courts) Jacket families are invited to come out for harvest fun at the annual Millsaps Fall Festival! Trunk or Treating is free, and fun harvest-themed games are available with tickets. Kids of all ages will enjoy games and prizes, cake walk, inflatables, hay ride and haunted house (for a separate entry fee). 1 ticket = $.50 each / 5 tickets = $2 / 10 tickets = $4 / 20 tickets = $8 Wristband for unlimited play = $15

Mini Drama Camp (for K - 6th graders) Saturday, November 15 9:00am-12:00pm Greensboro Center Auditorium Students will play improvisational acting games, do arts and crafts, read plays/dramatic story dramatization, and learn a dance to a song from Aladdin. Campers will perform for family at 11:45am. The cost of the camp is $40 per student and includes a snack and a tshirt.
