MILLSAPS CURRICULUM OPPORTUNITIES

ACT WORKKEYS/CAREER READY 101

Each senior is given the opportunity to prepare for the ACT WorkKeys through Career Ready 101, thanks to a grant provided by the Golden Triangle Development LINK and East Mississippi Community College. The WorkKeys is an assessment that gauges trainability. It is recognized by many industrial and manufacturing facilities in the Golden Triangle region and is provided by EMCC’s Center for Manufacturing and Technology Excellence. In order to earn the NCRC, students must score a Silver or higher on the assessment. For more information about WorkKeys, visit www.act.org/workforce.

NATIONAL TECHNICAL HONOR SOCIETY (NTHS)

The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is the club for outstanding career-technical education (CTE) students.  It is open by invitation only to second-year CTE students.  In order to qualify, students must have at least a 3.25 GPA, no more than three in-school suspensions, and no out-of-school suspensions.  Millsaps students are in excellent company as NTHS currently serves nearly 100,000 active members and has served nearly a million since it began in 1984. NTHS has awarded over $225,000 in scholarships to students with its annual scholarships. NTHS honors the achievements of top CTE students, provides scholarships to encourage the pursuit of higher education, and cultivates excellence in today’s highly competitive, skilled workforce. For over 30 years, NTHS has been recognizing students for their outstanding achievement in career and technical education.
