INDOOR PERCUSSION

Starkville Indoor Percussion (SIP) provides students in the Jacket band program with an innovative opportunity to advance their craft and participate in competition from January through April. Often referred to as "percussion theatre", competitive Indoor Percussion combines elements of music performance, marching and theatre in a themed competitive show each year.

SIP offers advanced instruction and competitive experience in the percussive arts, including battery and front ensemble which includes keyboard/mallet instruments, electronic piano, various percussion instruments and trap sets. The team also incorporates dance elements with color guard members. In 2025, the award-winning team will enter its fourth season of competition and has consistently earned honors and advanced in it's class based on performance scores. SIP has attended both regional and national competition with Winter Guard International (WGI) the international governing body for indoor color guard, percussion and wind activities.
