JACKET STRINGS

In 2023, SOCSD launched a unique partnership with the Mississippi State University Department of Music and College of Education to begin a strings program for Starkville K-12 students.

Beginning in 2nd grade, students can learn to play violin, viola, cello or string bass taught by shared faculty in the MSU Department of Music. After the 2023 launch for 3rd graders, the program has expanded with each cohort to include 2nd-7th grade with plans to continue the opportunity as those students move to higher grades.
